NetSuite Release 2024.2Fall is approaching and with it another highly anticipated NetSuite upgrade with NetSuite Release 2024.2! As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, NetSuite users can look forward to the second update of the year, which traditionally focuses on a range of fixes, optimizations, and enhancements to various bundles. This year’s release is no exception and promises to deliver significant improvements. Among the most notable updates in NetSuite 2024 Release 2 introduces some much-needed functionality to Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ShipCentral, ensuring that these tools are more efficient and user-friendly than ever before. Additionally, the update continues the ongoing trend of phasing out outdated technology, making way for more advanced and streamlined solutions. Here are a few highlights of what you can expect in this comprehensive update:

Manufacturing Operations Scheduling in NetSuite 2024 Release 2

NetSuite is probably making the most significant change of this release to the manufacturing scheduling in WIP and Routing/Advanced Manufacturing. The short version is that NetSuite used to calculate the operations solely based on the previous operation, regardless of work calendars or scheduling. The new update adjusts that process to incorporate many new factors for more accurate information on run times.

Mobile Scrap Counting

Another significant new piece of functionality coming in NetSuite 2024 Release 2 is an enhancement to how scrap is marked when completing builds with the manufacturing mobile application. NetSuite will now allow you to enter scrap counts and scrap reasons during the manufacturing process on the tablets. This functionality should significantly raise visibility in component usage to allow you to continue optimizing processes.

ShipCentral Rate Shopping in Release 2024.2

One of the major factors preventing customers from leveraging ShipCentral in NetSuite was the integration of rate shopping in the application. NetSuite has now added that capability to the platform vastly increasing the cost savings and optimization available when shipping products. This functionality change was one of the most requested enhancements for ShipCentral and we for one are happy to see it!

 Deprecations in Release 2024.2

NetSuite has begun the process of deprecating some technical capabilities within the system, which means that certain features and functionalities will gradually be phased out to make way for more advanced and efficient solutions. This strategic move is aimed at ensuring that the platform remains cutting-edge and continues to meet the evolving needs of its users. The largest areas affected by this release are:

1. NetSuite.com Data Source for SuiteAnalytics Connect: The process of deprecating this data source has already started, and it will become unsupported in the 2025.1 release. This means that users who rely on SuiteAnalytics Connect will need to transition to alternative data sources or methods to ensure continued access to their analytics and reporting capabilities.

2. External SuiteLet URLs Using the &h= Parameter: The use of the &h= parameter in external SuiteLet URLs is also being deprecated. This change will require users to update their existing URLs and potentially modify their integration processes to comply with the new standards set by NetSuite.

These deprecations are part of NetSuite's ongoing efforts to streamline its platform and enhance overall performance and security. Users are encouraged to review these changes and plan accordingly to minimize any disruptions to their operations.
