About Missing Batch Headers
Edward Gutkowski, Chief Architect - RapidReconciler, Products
Have you ever experienced down-time at period end close because you didn't realize batch header records were absent? You ask yourself, how can this happen?
The typical causes for this remain:
Computer failures – Something just mysteriously goes wrong when processing batches
Custom programs or interfaces – These may not build batch records properly
User error – Not creating the batch header correctly
JD Edwards data that appears is based on the presence in the batch header record in table F0011. Without the header the batch will not appear and subsequently may not get posted. There is an integrity report named "Transactions to Batch Headers" (R007021) that identifies problems with header records, including letting you know what header records are missing!
Now that you are armed with that knowledge now what? Well a little know trick is that there is a processing option you can set that will automatically add any missing header record so you won't have to do it manually!
Some companies I talked to add this program to the job schedule right before batch processing. Try it, it may save you some valuable time during period end close!
Happy reconciling!
