With JDE EnterpriseOne, it’s Personal

Hello again from sunny Southern California!
When things get personal it signifies care and ownership. JDE has evolved to what it is now and if you are on the latest and greatest release of JDE Enterprise One, you are in for a treat (if you are not, GSI will help you get there with ease).
Before I even start tackling UDO’s, UX One’s, personalization etc., let’s explore and take a quick look at what’s delivered and installed when you go to the JDE 9’s.
In JDE Enterprise One 9.2, when you click on the upper right corner of your screen once you get pass the login screen, you will see a down arrow right next to your login and environment info:
Point your mouse on the down arrow and click, let’s explore. Depending on the E1 tools release and how you are set and the access you have, you will see an application bar that looks something like this:
Roles
This will just show the user ID and the logged in environment and if JDE roles changer is turned on, this section will also show a dropdown button where you can change roles for this environment.
Personalization
The Personalization category will allow you to further drill-down and change application settings. So, let’s drill down:
“My System Options” - here you will be able to revise your basic user profile information, change your password (assuming it is not controlled by single sign-on), check the reports you submitted or printed and change your default printer:
“My System Profile” - will show you the user ID, environment, role and tools release information. It is an information only screen that will look like this:
“Preferences” - will let you personalize or customize your whole JDE interaction to hide or show layouts. It will also let you clear breadcrumbs history and reset E1 pages among other things that are turned on.
Make sure to click save when changing any of these preferences or click cancel to keep the same setting.
“My Subscriptions” - use this feature to view, add, update and delete your subscriptions to notifications. On the JDE E1 Tools release that I’m using (9.2.2.4), I can also see the subscriptions that I have been assigned. But to update or opt out of those subscriptions depends on how the subscription was defined when it was created. I will not be able to delete an assigned subscription I can only opt out if given that option by the subscription creator.
“Assigned Subscriptions” - as an overview, this feature provides a manager, business analyst, or administrator the ability to assign subscriptions to groups with a common interest or role as an alternative to every user subscribing individually. By assigning subscriptions, it helps clarify what information users are receiving
“Record a Process” – this feature delivered in tools 9.2.2.4, is used in conjunction with the E1 Orchestrator can record steps to create a service request and automate a process of entering transaction data that will be integrated with an Orchestrator process flow to accurately record the results from another application and sends notifications out to alert of good or not so good results. It’s as simple as launching the process recorder (the green start button below) and filling up controls form. We will have more on this as we explore the JDE E1 Orchestrator in future articles.
Going back to the Personalization category, I clicked on the “Manage Content” arrow to expand the last couple of available features:
“Managed Content - Composed Pages” – when launched will take you to the E1 Page Composer application where you will be able to personalize your user experience and preferences without having to do customizations. You will find more on E1 Page or Landing page topics in the Resources and Events page under JD Edwards at www.getgsi.com.
“Managed Content - Composed Pages” – takes you the good old E1 Page Manager console (image below). E1 Pages are referred to as Classic Pages as of Tools release 9.2.0.2. Classic E1 Pages are the first screen you will see when you login to JDE Enterprise One. We may see HTML files or HTML enabled functionality, URL links and web pages, even company logos, etc., so sharpen up your technical skills because there might be some HTML coding requirements.

There you have it. We barely scratched the surface and have yet to tackle the UDO’s and latest E1 personalization features. We just explored the delivered E1 personalization bar on the upper right corner of the screen, there are still other icons and options plus a whole lot of UX One features to look at and get personal with JDE!
