Oracle JD Edwards World software (World) is one of the longest lasting ERP software solutions in history, having been around for seven US Presidents and counting! In that time, it has evolved along with IBM's midrange system. From using old green screen Twinax connected terminals, to Token Ring, to Ethernet and cloud connections, World customers have seen it all.
With the latest release of A9.3, it has opened up the World system to the world! A9.3 includes notifications, SOA and BSSV support. With the addition of a Weblogic server, World has the ability to be open to almost every "modern" system. Leveraging Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), the ways to access World data and standard World validation routines are virtually unlimited. Business Services Servers (BSSV) are at the heart of this openness. Leveraging BSSV, we are able to connect, validate and update data from a number of outside sources.
Using the capability to open World, we are able to quickly write JAVA code that can expose the standard World functional servers to provide such things as Next Numbers, UDC code validations, all while enforcing standard security. There are many guides available on My Oracle Support (MOS) to help customers implement this modern toolset. GSI will be offering an educational webinar series later this year to aid customers interested in opening up World to the world. These exciting enhancements continue to extend the functionality and usefulness of the product ensuring World will be around for at least seven more Presidents.
