JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 23 User Experience Updates

The JD Edwards Release 23 user experience update consists of a FileSelector for Orchestrations that you can launch from an EnterpriseOne page. This enables composed pages to offer a file selector, which gives the end-user the ability to provide file inputs to orchestrations that users launch from off of composed pages.

Digital Transformation Changes in JD Edwards Release 23

The digital transformation changes provided in Release 23 include the ability to call orchestrations from workflows, call logic extensions from form extensions, and allow logic extensions to aggregate data that comes from EnterpriseOne Tables.

  • Invoke orchestrations from within workflows. The ability to call orchestrations from within workflows empowers users to leverage the power of orchestrations in workflow processes. At the same time, you don’t have to fully automate your workflows; you can still pause processes, forcing them to wait for human approval, for instance.
  • Launch logic extensions from form extensions. This gives you the power to associate a logic extension with a form without incorporating it into an orchestration, saving time and simplifying your workflow.
  • Aggregate data in logic extensions. With this feature, designers can use EnterpriseOne analytics to aggregate data within logic extensions. This makes it possible to automate functions such as averaging, adding, and subtracting data, as well as perform data analysis without programming skills while using logic extensions.

Platform Changes in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 Release 23

JD Release 23 comes with the following platform changes:

  • Manage and identify the Oracle database connection state. Because Release 23 enables you to automatically identify and manage the Oracle database connection state, you can boost system availability and business continuity while working with Oracle databases.
  • Better workload performance within the Oracle database. When using Release 23, you can configure your fetch size in any way you like, which can make it easier to reduce latency in business transactions.
  • New platform certifications.Release 23 comes with platform certifications that help ensure a smooth, effective user experience across a range of platforms. In this way, users can use EnterpriseOne with greater confidence, regardless of the system it’s interfacing with. The platform certifications that come with Release 23 include:
    • Google Chrome 105
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2022
    • Oracle WebCenter Portal 12.2.1.4
    • Microsoft Edge Chromium 105
    • Oracle JDeveloper 12.2.1.4
    • Mozilla Firefox 102 ESR

System Automation Enhancements in JDE Release 23

The system automation improvements that come with Release 23 are some of the most comprehensive enhancements to the platform. These include the following:

Support for Web OMW Spec Objects

The Object Management Workshop (OMW) in EnterpriseOne enables users to configure and control objects using a straightforward user interface. Instead of having to depend on a Windows development client to work with OMW spec objects, with Release 23, you get a Web OMW interface so designers can work within a web environment.

You can also import and export objects and projects through Web OMW into metadata repositories. By removing the necessity for a Windows development client, you make it easier for a wider range of designers to create and collaborate.

Apply Updates with JDE Update Manager Using a Web Client

System admins can use Release 23 to apply updates with Update Manager via a web client. As a result, admins get more flexibility and can spend less time administering patches across their environment. This feature also gives business analysts access to patch insights, which makes it easier to identify which systems need to be patched and when.

The Ability to Centrally Configure EnterpriseOne Servers

With this feature, you make it easier for admins to manage settings for all of your servers using Server Manager. You can design a default configuration and automatically apply it to some or all of your servers.

Better Security for JDE EnterpriseOne Messages Sent to Email Servers

With this feature of Release 23, you get more secure email communication between an SMTP server and EnterpriseOne. Using TLSv1.2 and SMTP authentication parameters, each message gets extra security. As a result, you can minimize the number of spam emails that go through your system as well as the security vulnerabilities you have to deal with.

Provision New Enterprise Servers Using a Customized Application Package

When using an Enterprise Server instance with Server Manager, you can spin up new Enterprise Servers right away using the current active package. This way, you can manage your servers, using them to create templates that can be applied to Enterprise Servers, saving considerable time and effort in the provisioning process.

Use an API to Publish Batch Information

This element of Release 23 provides users with an API that retrieves metadata for batches. You can then use the metadata to consolidate the outputs of several batch processes, simplify validation, and create more effective file names.
