UX = (innovative) User Experience
One = (for JD Edwards Enterprise) One
UX One is the advancement in the JDE EnterpriseOne user experience that delivers the tools citizen developers need to configure and personalize the user experience. Instant productivity and less technical tinkering so we can focus on managing the business.
FAST CONFIGURATION & PERSONALIZATION - Pre-built Roles
As mentioned in last month’s article, over 50 UX One roles are available. That is cool! For example, the Accounts Payable Manager can hit the ground running with the available options specific to the role they perform from the Landing Page built and delivered by JDE, on one screen. The specific landing page should also provide best practices process flow on how to effectively and efficiently perform their AP Manager duties. New to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne? No problem – the ready to use dashboards, help screens, the self-guiding icons and the intuitive web interface should help navigate your way in and around the application. They are organized to provide maximum efficiency, focused insight and optimization – that can still be modified since they built using User Defined Objects or UDO’s instead of creating one from scratch. Like every other available JD Edwards UX One roles, the AP Manager roles is built on the ALERT-ANALYZE-ACT model where dashboards display watchlists with the related Accounts Payable applications for analysis and springboard to perform actions that I will try to emphasize again:
ALERT – Watchlists (there are over 300 of them! depending on business needs, we can create Accounts Payables queries to set thresholds like payments In-Progress, Pending or Past-Due to monitor all or certain accounts or vendors. Having this information on the dashboard provides instant access to summary information right away – time saver! And keep in mind, watchlists can also take us directly to the application assuming we need further action or drill-down.
ANALYZE – Pre-built applications shown with graphical metrics like pie or bar charts provides visual analytics on what’s going on specific to the division and/or business that we manage. Accounts Payable Inquiry in graphical form, how cool is that!
ACT – Springboard, also known as the programs and applications to launch within our Landing Page. Depending on what application we want to display or launch for the Accounts Payable Manager role, this pane is where we access the Accounts Payable Ledger information, Vendor Payments, Aging Analysis reports and even the Supplier or Vendor master applications sparing us from figuring out the navigation menu to go to these tasks. It’s like a collection of tasks for a specific role. These tasks can include JDE EnterpriseOne applications, reports or queries, we can also have ADF applications and One View Inquiry screens and reports.
Please allow me to simplify the Accounts Payable Manager UX One role:
Right pane (ALERT), the Watchlist alerts that notify the VMI Manager when critical issues reach certain defined thresholds. The manager defines what the warning and critical limits are for tasks associated with the Watchlists alerts. The manager can click the alert to go to the EnterpriseOne application that provides her/him with more information about the alert. The AP manager can click the alert to go to the EnterpriseOne application that provides her/him with more information about the alert. Common example is to create a threshold alert from list of customers with past due and uncollected receivables. Watchlist provide an easy way for this information to be conveyed to the AP team. Watchlists are built on the existing JD Edwards EnterpriseOne query framework and are therefore, only supported on forms that support queries.
The center pane (ANALYZE), Pre-built Apps also known as the visuals that gives JD Edwards UX One dashboard images and provides analytics so that the manager can review the status of the most important business process. The manager can click the alert to go to the EnterpriseOne application that provides her/him with more information about the alert.
The right pane (ACT) of the landing page is a springboard of tasks most commonly used by persons in the role, in this case the VMI Account Manager. These springboards enable the manager to act on the alerts and analytics.
JDE UX One has role-based landing pages for most of the product areas.
Landing Page, also referred to as Classic EnterpriseOne Pages are the first screen the AP Manager will see upon login to EnterpriseOne. They are HTML files, with HTML-enabled functionality, such as interactive process flows, URL links and web pages, company logos, and so forth that can be further personalized.
Now, let’s replace the smiles face with the real stuff for the JDE Accounts Payable Manager UX One role:
ALERT-ANALYZE-ACT – More Configuration than Customization
UX One ALERT-ANALYZE-ACT informs users when a business situation requires attention and then shows real-time, visualized data to help with decision making. When action is needed, JD Edwards UX One provides a direct path to launch the application. With role-based solutions and personalization options like the AP Manager role shown in two different images above, UX One can help transform the user experience and enable users to work the way they want to work.
Alerts are important on all aspects that we deal with regularly not just from an application like JD Edwards. Supporting visuals to show what’s going on and the ability to take action right away complete the end to end to simplify how we manage our business and along with its long successful and proven reputation, separates JD Edwards UX One above other ERP application software.
Let’s end this article consistent with “The Fastpath and Furious…” article wrap up, this time a quote from one of my all-time favorites: “I live a little bit on the seat of my pants, I try to be alert and available for life to happen to me. We’re in this life, and if you’re not available, the sort of ordinary time goes past, and you didn’t live it. But if you’re available, life gets huge. You’re really living it.” - Bill Murray
